A big, warm welcome to all the children and families starting in our Nursery class here at Exwick Heights Primary School.
We have had a wonderful time during our first three days, which we have spent getting to know each other and making new friends. We have been familiarising ourselves with our new classroom and the other learning environments which has been lots of fun and very helpful. We now know where we can explore as well as other important things, for example, where the toilets are.
We have thoroughly enjoyed the story ‘Owl Babies’ by Martin Waddell in which the owl mother leaves her babies and then returns again later, much like our grown-ups dropping us at nursery and collecting us later! We have also learnt the Makaton signs for ‘owl’, ‘mummy’ and ‘daddy’.
Over the year, we will be learning about the different forms of narrative that will help us to tell and in the future, write stories. This term, we are looking at ‘who’. We will be learning ‘who’ is in our class and the other classes and we will be exploring ‘who’ the characters are in all the stories we will be reading.
A few reminders:
- Please could you check that your child’s uniform and any bags are named.
- We are approaching that time of year where we all have lots of sniffles. Therefore, we would greatly appreciate a donation of a box of tissues.
- We are asking for £3 contributions towards buying ingredients for cooking. These can be made via the School Gateway app.
