This week we have read the story ‘Farmer Duck’. Alongside talking about the role of the farmer at this time of year, the story is about working together and co-operating. In the book, the farmer lay in bed and just gave orders and commands to the poor old duck, who became sad and weary. With support from duck’s friends; the cows, hens and sheep, the lazy farmer is ‘run out of town’ and the friends work together to complete all the farm jobs. This story has enabled us to remind the children about the rules of helping each other, including the need to work together at ‘tidy-up’ times; we are getting there! We have also learnt the signs for ‘duck’, ‘help’ and ‘cow’.
We have continued to practise using the words; support, assist and lend a helping hand.
In Phonics, we have learnt the phonemes g, o, c and k. We have also practised writing the graphemes during our handwriting sessions. For Maths, we have been comparing a variety of different objects by size using the following language big/little, large/small, tall/long/short.
Please have a look at the Home Learning that has been attached to find some fun activities that link to each area of your child’s learning. We would love to hear from you about your child’s home learning. Please could you email these to us at: email@example.com .
We are collecting recycled materials for our junk modelling station. Ideally we would like small boxes, washed yoghurt pots and small containers. Please can we ask that any recycled material that previously had nut products inside do not come in due to allergies that we have in school. Please could the items be brought in a bag and labelled, if possible, with the date they are brought in. Thank you
