The pupils have settled into Year 6 fantastically. We have been very impressed by their kindness, determination and positivity. The children have spent the week becoming familiar with their new classrooms and routines. We have also started our first topic of the Industrial Revolution, revisited some key maths concepts and have learnt some new playground games.
Next week, we will begin writing letters in English, start place value in Maths and begin our reading sessions.
Year 6 Newsletter
Each week we will be writing a Year 6 newsletter. It is a chance for us to share what we are learning in school and celebrate Year 6 achievements. In time, we will handover the writing, editing and publishing to our fantastic Year 6 pupils!
Being independent and responsible is crucial for Year 6 and beyond; however we would appreciate your support in making sure that children have the following:
- Reading journals on Monday
- Home learning on Thursday
- PE kits in everyday
Our class book this term is Holes by Louis Sacher. It’s one of our absolute favourites and know that children will love it too! Children are welcome to bring in their own named copy should they wish to read along. We have also sent the children home with some Year 6 Recommended Reads. If you are looking for a good book, it’s the best place to start!
