Nursery – Big Red Bath

We have had a fantastic week in the nursery class this week; the children adored our focus text ‘The Big Red Bath’ and asked to listen to it numerous times over the week. In the story, the children are having a bath and are then joined by a whole host of different animals who make a big splash! The story lent itself nicely to our narrative theme of ‘what happened next’ as they guessed which animals would arrive to join the bath and what would happen!

Continuing our theme of relationships this half term, we have been talking about friendships again in some of our carpet times. This week we all chose a peer and told them something we like about them. All the children were so kind and thought of some wonderful characteristics they liked about their friends; the most common was that they make each other laugh!

This week we conducted an experiment to find out which materials would be waterproof and which wouldn’t. We tried many materials in an attempt to keep our toys dry, some worked and others left our poor toys soaking wet as they perished! This was lots of fun and the children made lots of correct predictions.

We have learnt the Makaton signs, ‘lion’ and ‘giraffe’ this week as well as revisiting ‘dog’. These where are all characters from our story. Please have a look at the attached home learning (for the week beginning 16th May) to find some fun activities that link to each area of your child’s learning. We would love to hear from you about your child’s home learning. Please could you email these to us at: fshomelearning@exwickheights.devon.sch.uk
