Nursery – We’re Going on a Bear Hunt

Our focus text this week has been the popular story ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ by Michael Rosen. For many children this was a story they are familiar with, they really enjoyed joining in with the repeated refrains throughout the story.

We have a new narrative focus this term to add to our previous learning around ‘who’. We will now be talking all about ‘where’ and the story this week has given us plenty of opportunities to talk about ‘where’, as the family ventured through a snowstorm, a river and a forest to name a few!

The children have been using positional language this week, with an emphasis on ‘over’, ‘under’ and ‘through’, linking nicely with the story, on their bear hunt they decide they can’t go over or under their obstacles and they have to go through them! We learned the Makaton signs for ‘over’, ‘under’ and we revisited the sign for ‘bear’.

Please have a look at the attached Home Learning to find some fun activities that link to each area of your child’s learning. We would love to hear from you about your child’s home learning. Please could you email these to us at: fshomelearning@exwickheights.devon.sch.uk.

Notes: We would love to receive any recyclable material for our junk modelling station. These can include cardboard boxes, cleaned out yoghurt pots or plastic containers. Please can we ask that anything that contained nuts does not come in due to allergies.
