Reception- Jack and the Beanstalk

This week we have been reading the story ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. We have learnt some songs to go with the story. The children have particularly enjoyed learning the giant’s song and using their giant voices. We revisited the words: huge, large, enormous, massive and gargantuan. We also learnt the signs for hen, bean and cow.

Everyone has enjoyed some delicious beans on toast in our kitchen – unfortunately, they were not magic beans!

Over the week, the children have been learning about drawing simple maps, using shapes to create other shapes and what plants need to grow. We have also started a new science experiment where we have three different conditions for beans to try to grow in. Will they grow better in the dark, without any water or with sun and water?

Please have a look at the Home Learning that has been attached to find some fun activities that link to each area of your child’s learning. We would love to hear from you about your child’s home learning. Please could you email these to us at: fshomelearning@exwickheights.devon.sch.uk

A few notes:

  • Please could your child bring in a sun hat and have sun cream applied before coming into school.
