Reception – The Little Red Hen

This week we have been reading the very popular traditional story ‘The Little Red Hen’. None of her farmyard friends would help the hen complete any of the processes involved in making bread, although they were keen to help her eat the freshly baked bread! The Little Red Hen had other ideas, perhaps your child can tell you if she decided to share her bread or not?

We revisited the words: help, advise, suggest and give tips. We also learnt the signs for bread, red and help.

Each class had a demonstration of how to make the dough for our own bread. We also joined Mrs Saunders in nursery to roll, bake and then taste their own bread rolls, which went down a treat!

We have enjoyed our ‘Healthy Eating’ week where we have learnt all the important things we need to do to keep ourselves healthy. We had Year 6 children leading exercise dances each morning and thank you to all who brought in your tasty funky fruits to eat for snack.

We have some very little visitors that have joined us in our class this week. We will be learning all about them next week. I wonder if your child can remember what they are?

Please have a look at the Home Learning that has been attached to find some fun activities that link to each area of your child’s learning. We would love to hear from you about your child’s home learning. Please could you email these to us at: fshomelearning@exwickheights.devon.sch.uk

A few notes:

  • Next Thursday (23rd) at 9.30am is our Sport’s Day. Please could your child ensure they bring a hat and water bottle into school. Could they also ensure they have had sun cream applied before coming into school.
