Reception- The Bear Under the Stairs

This week we have been reading ‘The Bear under the Stairs’ which has had many of us debating whether the boy in the story was imagining the bear or if the bear was actually there!

The children have learnt some interesting facts about bears such as where they live, what they look like and what they like to eat. In addition, they have been practising how to collage their bear drawings by tearing up pieces of paper and sticking using glue sticks.

We have also had our week of ‘bikeability balance’ in Reception. Come rain or shine the children have been learning how to balance, glide and some have even learnt how to ride a bike without stabilizers! The children’s perseverance and growth in confidence has been amazing! We hope you enjoy the short video that has been created to show some of the children during the session.

Please have a look at the Home Learning that has been attached to find some fun activities that link to each area of your child’s learning. We would love to hear from you about your child’s home learning. Please could you email these to us at: fshomelearning@exwickheights.devon.sch.uk

A few notes:

  • We would love to receive any recyclable material for our junk modelling station. These can include cardboard boxes, cleaned out yoghurt pots or plastic containers. Please can we ask that anything that contained nuts does not come in due to allergies, thank you.
