Welcome to Reception

We would like to say a big warm welcome to our families and children that have started their reception year this week!

The first three days have been great and we have had a wonderful time getting to know one another, making new friends. The children have spent lots of time familiarising themselves with our learning environment and are now feeling much more confident in navigating their way around.

‘Owl Babies’ by Martin Waddell has been our story of the week, the children enjoyed joining in with the repeated refrains and we learnt the Makaton signs for ‘owl’, ‘mummy’ and ‘daddy’.

Over the year, we will be learning about the different forms of narrative that will help us to tell and write stories. This term, we are looking at ‘who’. We will be learning ‘who’ is in our class and the other classes as well as exploring ‘who’ the characters are in all the stories we read.

When we begin our home learning next week, this is where you will find it, attached to the end of our reception blog post. Next week we will be exploring the story of ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’.

A few reminders:

  • Please could you check that your child’s uniform and any bags are named.
  • We are approaching that time of year where we all have lots of sniffles. Therefore, we would greatly appreciate a donation of a box of tissues.

Thank you!
