Gemma Wills

Headteacher/Ex-officio

As Headteacher and Governor at Exwick Heights, a proud member of the Ted Wragg Trust, I am passionate about nurturing the whole child and fostering academic excellence alongside personal empowerment. Our values of kindness, curiosity, and determination are at the heart of everything we do.

With a love for teaching, I have taught across all Primary year groups and previously served as Deputy Head in a Ted Wragg Trust school for ten years, gaining extensive leadership experience. I strongly believe in the vital role governance plays in supporting schools and am committed to ensuring every child at Exwick Heights thrives both academically and personally.

I am proud to have been a governor at Exwick Heights since April 2021. I am the SENDCo at West Exe School, Exeter and am the Trust Governor for SEND. I value being part of the Ted Wragg Trust and I love my job as I get to make a difference to young people’s lives when they need it most. I am really lucky to be able to work closely with the Exwick Heights’ SENDCo. We share our knowledge and work together to reach solutions so that the children in the community can thrive while they are at Exwick Heights and achieve when they move on to secondary school.

Rachael Milton

Parent Governor

Rachel is the Link Governor for Curriculum

I have been part of the Exwick Heights school community for 12 years. I have been through the school once with my son (who is now in Year 11) and am doing it all over again with my daughter who is in Year 4. I’ve been a parent governor for the past 5 years, an opportunity that I have loved, as I have got to understand the school and the systems and plans that keep our children safe and reaching their potential. I live in Exeter but work nationally, running a social enterprise that works positively with people who have a diagnosis of dementia.

Rebecca Haswell

Staff Governor

I have been teaching for nearly 30 years and have taught in London, Egypt, Spain and Devon. I am about to go into my 10th year at Exwick Heights and cannot believe how time the time has flown by! I am proud to work at this amazing school as the staff, parents and children are amazing. It has been wonderful to see the school grow and develop and to witness our children really thrive. I feel we provide a broad and balanced curriculum for our pupils and prepare them well for the future. I have been a team leader across the school and enjoy making positive changes as part of the SLT. Art is a passion of mine and I have loved leading this subject and running art club. My role as School Council link teacher has meant I have been able to work with the children to gather their thoughts about how we can make our school even better. Reading for pleasure is a real strength and Exwick and I also lead the Read to Succeed initiative, where children earn tickets and win a book. Next year, I will be taking on the role of Teacher Governor and am looking forward to working with colleagues from the wider community and The Ted Wragg Trust to help our wonderful school continue to improve.

Yasmine Al-Saket
